Freehold, about twenty minutes from our Jackson base, has some of the oldest housing stock on our core list — genuine pre-war homes near the borough alongside the township's later waves of colonials.
Older houses reward a contractor who respects what is already there. Freehold work is opening a closed floor plan without losing the house's character, framing corrections where a century of settling shows, kitchens and baths rebuilt inside rooms that were never square to begin with, and trim carried through so the new work reads as if it had always been part of the house.
Older-home remodels
Kitchens and baths rebuilt inside pre-war walls — out-of-square rooms, plaster, and the surprises behind it handled as part of the job.
Structural corrections
Sagging floors, undersized headers and settled framing put right with beams and posts that carry the load properly.
Layouts opened carefully
Walls removed and openings widened without flattening the character that makes an older Freehold house worth keeping.
