Point Pleasant, about thirty minutes from our Jackson base, is as shore as our list gets — compact beach houses on tight lots, many of them older cottages that have been renovated in layers as the town changed around them.

Building here means building for weather. Roofs, windows and doors have to be detailed against wind-driven rain; anything at ground level has to accept the occasional wet street; and the small-footprint houses reward layouts that waste nothing. We bring the same finish work our gallery shows, detailed for a house that lives a block from salt water.
